Yamazaki 12 Yr
The bottle that introduced the world to Japanese whisky. Suntory founder Shinjiro Torii built the Yamazaki Distillery in 1923 — Japan's first malt whisky distillery — in a misty vale on the edge of Kyoto where three rivers converge, a site chosen for its legendary waters. The 12 Year, the flagship since 1984, is distilled from 100% malted barley in copper pot stills and matured a minimum of twelve years across three woods: American oak for vanilla, Spanish sherry casks for dried fruit, and Japan's rare Mizunara oak — harvested from trees at least two centuries old — for its signature sandalwood and incense perfume. Succulent peach, pineapple, and candied orange glide into honey, coconut, and gentle baking spice through a long, elegant finish. Named Supreme Champion Spirit at the 2024 International Spirits Challenge; sip it neat, or make the finest highball of your life.
