From the same fifth-generation Teixeira Coelho estate in the granite hills of Celorico de Basto — the first in Vinho Verde certified sustainable under Portugal's national standard — the Vicinus Rosado turns the region's native red grapes into one of the freshest pink wines anywhere: Espadeiro, Padeiro, and the inky Vinhão, hand-harvested and fermented cool in stainless steel to lock in the fruit. It's a burst of strawberry, red cherry, watermelon, and wildflowers with the trademark whisper of Vinho Verde spritz, then crisp, light, and faintly saline on the finish — dry, low in alcohol, and dangerously refreshing. "Vicinus" means neighbors in Latin, and that's exactly the occasion: chill it down for charcuterie, grilled shrimp, salads, or a sunny afternoon with the people next door.
