Vicinus Vinho Verde 25
Vinho Verde from the hills, not the factory. Quinta da Raza sits at 250 meters on granite and schist in Celorico de Basto — the warm, inland corner of Vinho Verde far from the Atlantic — where the Teixeira Coelho family has made wine since 1791, now in its fifth generation and the first estate in the entire DOC certified under Portugal's national sustainability standard. "Vicinus" is Latin for neighbors, a nod to the estate's community-minded farming, and the blend leans on Basto's native trio — Arinto, the rare local specialty Azal, and Trajadura — hand-picked into small crates and fermented cool in stainless steel. It's everything you want the style to be: lime, green apple, and grapefruit with a whisper of natural spritz, bone-dry, mouthwatering, and low in alcohol. Chill it hard for oysters, ceviche, spicy takeout, or the porch — the crowd-pleaser that still has a story.
