Scotty Boy THR IS STILL HOP 23
THR IS STILL HOP rounds out the Scotty-Boy! trio — Scott Sampler’s “less judgy, more chuggy” counterpart to his acclaimed Central Coast Group Project — and it’s the sunniest of the three: 80% Riesling with 15% Chardonnay and a splash of Grenache Blanc from Santa Barbara County, given full carbonic maceration whole-cluster and nothing else. No long skin soak here, just that hazy golden glow and pure carbonic juice — jasmine and lime blossom off the Riesling, green apple and melon bouncing over a featherweight, bone-dry palate at 12.5%. Ingredients, as always: “Grapes (Nothing Added / Nothing Taken Away)” — and the label’s aka’s run from “absurdity has jumped the shark” to Horace’s carpe diem quam minimum credula postero: seize the day, trust tomorrow as little as possible. Drink it cold, outdoors, with or without the picnic.
