Napa power with a rodeo heart. The flagship of Ride & Ridden — founder David Green's collaboration with Texas photographer Steve Wrubel, whose freeze-frame images of horse and bull riders give the label its name — is made with genuine Napa muscle: fruit hand-harvested at night from premier vineyard partners, cold-soaked, fermented in open-top stainless steel, then aged 16 months in 50% new French oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The 2023 comes from one of Napa's most celebrated recent vintages — long, cool, and pristine — and it shows: dark, nearly opaque, with blackberry, sage, black olive, and shaved cocoa aromatics over a decadently rich, textural palate that finishes with uncommon polish. Equal parts power and grace, it earned a 94-point critic score and a spot on Jeb Dunnuck's Top Values in Napa Valley Cabernet. Ribeye, short ribs, rack of lamb — bring the big plates.
