Offshoot Relax Hazy IPA
The loophole beer. The Bruery — Orange County's famed maker of extravagant barrel-aged ales — swore for a decade it would never brew an IPA. Offshoot Beer Co. is how founder Patrick Rue (one of only a handful of Master Cicerones in the world) finally kept the promise while breaking it: a whole sub-brand devoted to fresh, hop-forward cans. Relax [it's just a hazy IPA] is its easygoing flagship: Citra and Amarillo out front with Centennial and Simcoe behind, fermented on London III yeast over a bed of flaked oats for that pillowy-soft, round mouthfeel. Extra cloudy and bursting with fruity, tropical citrus — no harsh bitterness, no pucker, just a smooth 6.8% that drinks like a breeze. The name is the instruction.
