Mr. Brightside Gamay Noir 22
A winery with a single obsession: Gamay. Tim Fulnecky founded Mr. Brightside in 2020 on California's Central Coast after years of championing the grape — the label has produced fifteen different wines, every one of them Gamay Noir. This flagship comes entirely from the Zabala Vineyard in windswept Arroyo Seco, farmed organically (though not certified), where cool Monterey air keeps the grape crunchy and bright. The 2022 was cold-soaked three days, spontaneously fermented half whole-cluster in open-top bins for 17 days, then aged in neutral French oak with minimal sulfur at bottling. Pure cru-Beaujolais energy from California soil: juicy cherry, cranberry, and pomegranate with a mineral edge, fine tannins, and a clean, lifted finish. Lightly chill it and pour with charcuterie, roast chicken, or grilled vegetables.
