Herbalist Stanislao Cobianchi traveled four continents collecting 40 botanicals — orange peel, vanilla, eucalyptus, cinnamon, cloves, and more — to create this amaro in 1885 Bologna, originally called Elisir Lungavita. Renamed in 1896 to honor Princess Elena of Montenegro, it remains one of Italy's gentlest, most approachable amari, at home in a Negroni riff or simply on ice.
