Metaxa Ouzo 700ml
Greece's national drink from its most famous spirits house. The Metaxa distillery was founded in Piraeus in 1888 by Spyros Metaxa, and in the early 1900s — long before the amber brandy made the name world-famous — the house produced its own ouzo. This bottling revives that original recipe: six aromatic botanicals of the Mediterranean, crowned by rare mastiha, the precious pine-fresh resin harvested only on the island of Chios, all distilled in small batches in 100% copper stills. The mastic lends a gentle sea-breeze lift and velvety texture to the classic sweet anise and licorice core, with iris-flower florals through a long, warming finish. Pour it over ice or add cold water and watch it louche to milky white — then bring on the grilled octopus, feta, and Mediterranean finger food. Opa optional but encouraged.
