The Matsui Sakura Cask is a single malt from Matsui Shuzo's Kurayoshi Distillery in Tottori Prefecture, distilled from 100% malted barley and brought to proof with natural spring water from Mt. Daisen — then rested in casks coopered from Japanese sakura (cherry blossom) wood, a rarity even within Japanese whisky. The wood lends a crisp, faintly sweet cherry-blossom fragrance that opens into baked apple, buttercream, and dried lemon peel, finishing long on toasted almond and fresh wood. Bottled at a confident 48%, natural color and non-chill filtered, with a label bearing Kikukawa Eizan's ukiyo-e "Beauty in the Cherry Blossom Garden."
