Randy Mason has been farming and making wine in Napa since 1993, building Mason Cellars on decades-deep relationships with the valley's best growers and a minimalist, let-the-vineyard-speak approach — a name sommeliers know mostly for benchmark Sauvignon Blanc, which tells you the house style: freshness first. The 2022 Chardonnay walks the line beautifully — pear, honey, and pineapple aromas into a round, creamy palate with neatly integrated oak and a brush of vanilla, but with a racy, nervy backbone of white grapefruit pith, white peach, and sea salt that earned it 91 points from Wine Enthusiast. Rich enough for risotto and roast chicken, bright enough for fresh seafood — the rare Napa Chard that does both sides of the aisle.
