Mal Bien Espadin Mezcal 750ml
Since 2016, the Mal Bien crew has been driving off the map and into the Oaxacan mountains — past feral dogs, mudslides, and roadblocks — to find traditional family mezcaleros and bottle their work with radical transparency: every label names the producer, the village, the lot, and the exact proof. Their green-label Espadín is the self-described "gateway mezcal" and everyday sipper of the line, currently made by the Morales family — fourth-generation Oscar Morales, on the land and equipment of his father Lucio — in San Dionisio Ocotepec: agave pit-roasted six days over oak, tahona-crushed, fermented in pine vats with well water, and double-distilled in copper. At a purposeful 45.5%, it's roasted agave, ground corn, citrus, and soft smoke with leathery, caramelized-banana depth — complex enough to sip, assertive enough to carry a cocktail where 40% mezcals disappear.
