Giffard Banane du Bresil
Banana, taken seriously. In 1885, Angers pharmacist Émile Giffard set aside his remedies to perfect a digestive mint liqueur — Menthe-Pastille — and five generations later his family still runs the house on the Loire, now the gold standard for bartender's liqueurs. Banane du Brésil is their showpiece: plump, sun-ripened Brazilian bananas slowly infused in neutral spirit, married with banana distillate, and finished with a hint of oak-aged Cognac for an opulent, silky mouthfeel. It pours a burnished caramel and tastes like fresh banana bread in a glass — ripe banana, vanilla, ginger, and allspice, rich without being cloying. The secret weapon behind a decade of great cocktail lists: split it into a daiquiri or an Old Fashioned, float it on a Jungle Bird, or just pour it over ice (or ice cream).
