Faiveley Puligny Montrachet 24
The village where Chardonnay becomes philosophy. Domaine Faiveley has been a pillar of Burgundy since 1825 — seven generations of the same family, led since 2005 by Erwan Faiveley from their home in Nuits-Saint-Georges — and their Puligny-Montrachet shows why the house's Côte de Beaune whites have become some of the region's most reliable. From a tiny 0.48-hectare plot on Puligny's famous limestone and stony soils — farmed entirely by the domaine — the 2024 is textbook: white flowers, vanilla, and fresh hazelnut on the nose, then that signature direct, mineral attack opening into vine peach, exotic fruit, and salted caramel. Fourteen months in French oak, less than a third new, with regular lees stirring for texture that never smothers the chalk. Puligny is the most chiseled of the great white villages — pour this with lobster, halibut, roast chicken in cream, or triple-crème cheeses.
