Dr. Loosen Red Slate Dry Riesling 24
From one of the Mosel's most storied estates — in the Loosen family for over 200 years and led since 1988 by the tireless Ernst Loosen — this dry Riesling is a love letter to the iron-rich red slate of the villages around Ürzig and Erden, where volcanic-tinged soils give a warmer, spicier expression than the Mosel's classic blue slate. Made in the traditional style of Ernst's ancestors: spontaneous fermentation and extended rest on full lees in large old oak casks. The 2024 is vibrant and floral, with white peach, citrus blossom, and dried strawberry gliding over that signature wet-stone minerality into a long, bone-dry, mouthwatering finish. Grand-cru-adjacent Mosel character at a village-wine price.
