Costador Metamorphika Macabeu Orange 24
True mountain wine from Joan Franquet's Costador, farmed biodynamically on a single mountainside in the highlands of Conca de Barberà, where vines 60 to 110 years old climb slate, clay, and limestone terraces between 400 and 800 meters. The Metamorphika wines begin and end their lives in clay: old-vine Macabeu macerates on its skins for weeks in large amphorae, ferments spontaneously with wild yeasts, then rests on its lees in seasoned oak before being bottled — unfined and unfiltered, with a scant 10 mg of sulfur — into the range's signature wax-sealed clay bottle. Round and waxy in texture yet bone dry: peach, orange zest, and white flowers wound through warm spice and pronounced mountain minerality. Structured enough for curries, roast pork, or aged Manchego — and the bottle alone sells itself.
