Contratto Bitter Liqueur 1 Liter
From Italy's oldest sparkling wine house — Contratto, founded in Canelli, Piedmont in 1867 and now in the hands of the Rivetti family of La Spinetta fame — comes the bartender's answer to Campari, resurrected from the house's original 1933 recipe. Some two dozen premium botanicals — aloe, wormwood, bitter and sweet orange peel, gentian, hibiscus, cardamom, rhubarb, sage, ginger, and more — are cold-macerated the slow, traditional way into an Italian brandy base, with entirely natural colors and flavors (no artificial red dye here). The result is aromatic and layered: orange peel and tangerine over smooth, rounded bitterness, herbal depth, and a whisper of salinity. Drop it into a Negroni or Americano and taste what "boutique" means — and the liter bottle means the Negronis don't stop early.
