The skin-contact star of Christina Netzl's natural range from Göttlesbrunn in Austria's Carnuntum region — a wine the estate lovingly calls "Wilde Liebe" (wild love) at home. Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, and Welschriesling are hand-harvested from gravel-and-loess vineyards warmed by the Pannonian climate and cooled by night breezes off the Danube, then wild-fermented on their skins for roughly three weeks and rested several months in old casks, amphorae, and steel on full lees. The result is exuberant and exotic: tangerine, pomelo, and yellow fruit tangled with herbs and a nutty biscuit note, framed by an exciting tannic grip. Built for food with character — Thai curries, grilled fish, lemony roast chicken, or a serious cheese board.
