Chateau Mangot Saint Emilion Grand Cru 21
From the far eastern hills of Saint-Émilion, where the Todeschini family has farmed for three generations, Château Mangot occupies a striking south-facing amphitheater — 21 parcels spread across four terroirs, climbing from the foot of the slopes to the limestone plateau at the appellation's highest point. Certified organic since 2020 (and biodynamic since 2023), the estate harvests and vinifies parcel by parcel, aging the wine 13–15 months in seasoned barrels to let the limestone speak. The 2021 is precise and perfumed: red cherries, raspberries, and mulberries laced with licorice and rose petal, medium-bodied and fleshy with fine powdery tannins and a signature chalky finish. Drinking beautifully now and built to hold through the 2030s — and a snapshot of an estate on the rise, promoted to Grand Cru Classé in the 2022 classification.
