Breaking Bread Marmalade 25
Breaking Bread is the natural-wine alter ego of Erik Miller, the acclaimed winemaker behind Dry Creek Valley's Kokomo Winery — a side project born from his urge to be challenged, work with minimal intervention, and make lower-alcohol, food-first wines that are natural but impeccably clean. Marmalade, the flagship, earns its name the moment it hits the glass: aromatic Muscat Blanc leads the blend, with equal parts Chardonnay (for weight) and Sauvignon Blanc (for zip). Destemmed with zero sulfur into the fermenter, the native yeast builds for five days before five more fermenting on the skins — ten days of contact total — then bottled unfined and unfiltered. Orange peel, jasmine, and ripe apricot tumble into juicy tangerine and peach with a gentle textural grip and a clean, saline lift. The friendliest introduction to orange wine on the shelf.
