With winemaking in his blood, Vito Lauria left Sicily to study enology in northern Italy before returning home in 2005 to revive his grandfather’s family winery in Alcamo, a town west of Palermo rich in history from Muslim to Norman to revolutionary roots. Founded in 1958 but shuttered in ’93, the estate was reborn under Vito’s hands with a commitment to organic farming – he’s a master of it – and every wine comes from organically certified vineyards. Nestled among the clay and calcareous soils in western Sicily, Vino Lauria celebrates indigenous Sicilian grapes. It’s a story of revival, roots, and relentless passion for the land and its gifts.
