Winemaker Erwin Poller discovered a local chicken farm's practice of killing less productive chickens. Appalled, he devised a plan to give some of these birds a second chance, building a portable cube for increased fertilization with chicken droppings in his vineyards. Thus, the Huhnerweingarten (Chicken Vineyard) was born. Granite and loess soil create an ideal balance of elegance and food-friendly heft. Expect stone fruit, yellow apples, tropical fruit, and spice with a lingering, full-bodied finish.
