Gekkeikan Kobai Plum Wine

Kobai is Gekkeikan's lighter take on umeshu, Japan's traditional plum wine, built around fruit from the well-known orchards of Wakayama. At 12% ABV, it drinks easy without sacrificing character — honeyed plum up front, with almond and apple blossom rounding out the middle and a touch of Meyer lemon brightening the finish. It's sweet but never cloying, which makes it equally at home as an aperitif or poured over ice for dessert. Try it alongside blue cheese or foie gras, where its acidity cuts right through the richness.
