Cherchi Cannonau di Sardegna 2012
Though Spanish in origins, Cannonau is more well-known on the island of Sardinia, where it grows in abundance. The hand-harvested grapes for this wine come from a hillside vineyard with calcareous-clay soils situated roughly 200 meters above sea level.
Fermentation and aging occur mostly in steel tanks, while a small portion ages in wood for about 6 months. The wine undergoes spontaneous natural malolactic fermentation.
