A custom collaboration between importer Eric Solomon and Jean-Marc Lafage of Domaine Lafage — one of the Roussillon's most celebrated estates — Bastide Miraflors is a serious value from an underrated corner of southern France. The 2020 is a 70% Syrah and 30% old-vine Grenache blend, with the Syrah sourced from gravelly Mediterranean soils and the Grenache from ancient schist and granite hillsides near Saint-Paul de Fenouillet. Aged in a combination of concrete tanks and French oak demi-muids, it delivers dark berry fruit, garrigue, and a full-bodied, supple richness that overdelivers wildly for the price.
